There has been a bit of a controversy in the recent past about food festivals in Mystic — so much so that there are now two food festivals.

My question: how does anyone lose in this scenario?

They don't. Bring on the chow!

The Mystic Eats Riverside Food Festival — which might be thought of as the autumnal yang to the vernal yin of early June's Taste of Mystic fest — takes place Friday through Sunday near the drawbridge on Cottrell Street.

Over 30 restaurants will participate, and offerings tastily rangs from ballpark-style faves to gourmet delicacies. There are also lots of family attractions including kid-centric games. You can also enjoy live music from such popular local acts as The Cartells, Dan Watson, the Kevin Crandall Band, High Times, Tommy Giarratano, and Eight to the Bar — and don't forget the beer-and-wine tent.

It's also good to know that a portion of the event's proceeds benefits MASH (Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality), a non-profit charity that strives to end family homelessness.
