Thames River Art & Craft Show happens this weekend
Artists and craftspeople from around New England come together this weekend for the second annual Thames River Art & Craft Show on the Mitchell College campus.
The show, from Jaden Events, offers a wonderful array of things, from hand-blown creations from Daniel Read Studios to Jacqueline Jones' seascapes to Tom Sayers' bird photography to Margarita DeSantis' jewelry. And how about this: Repurpose Me uses repurposed metal to construct quirky pieces for lawn, garden or home.
Beyond the art and crafts, visitors can sample food — including lobster mac 'n' cheese and strawberry shortcake — from Mitchell College dining services. And they can listen to or participate in a drum circle from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday led by Mark Zarrillo of Drumming Spirit. On Sunday, they'll hear the Caribbean sounds of the White-Eyed Lizard Band.
Thames River Art & Craft Show, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. and Sun., Mitchell College, 437 Pequot Ave., New London; free admission; see the Facebook page for Thames River Art & Craft Show.
