Garde to showcase art and work of Lois H. Constantine and her students

The art and work of Lois H. Constantine and her students will be on display at the Garde Arts Center in an exhibition titled “The Annual Exhibition of the Constantine Art Group." Constantine, who is based in Mystic and who was once the student of the late Robert Brackman, an esteemed Mystic-based artist of the early 20th century, is now teaching her students the impressionistic painting techniques passed on to her from her former mentor. Seeing how Brackman’s techniques have translated through the 29 pieces on display may be a point of interest for anyone intrigued by his work.

An opening reception will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Garde’s mezzanine, and the show will run through Jan. 30. The reception is free. Most pieces will be for sale, and a portion of those proceeds will be donated to the Garde. The venue is located at 325 State St., New London; the show will be open to the public 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri. and two hours before all Garde performances.
