    Edible books fests abound

It's a book buffet! The annual Edible Books Festival returns Sunday to Groton Public Library. An array of culinary creativity will be on view, inspired by tomes of various levels of fame. And after visitors view the creations, they can sample them.

The titles that inspired last year's entries ranged from "Heart of Darkness" to "The Giving Tree" to "Frankenstein," with the latter featuring miniature frankfurters in a beer stein.

This family event is sponsored by the three Friends of Libraries in Groton. (Those libraries include Bill Memorial Library, Groton Public Library, and the Mystic & Noank Library.)

That's not the only edible books festival around here this weekend. The other happens Saturday at Ledyard's Bill Library, where entries will be on display until 3 p.m. and then will be served. It's being held with the opening reception of the library's Artists & Writers Exhibition.
