    H.S. golf: Unbeaten Killingly hands NFA first loss

    Sprague — The unbeaten Killingly High School golf team handed Norwich Free Academy its first loss, defeating the Wildcats 6-1 at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club on Thursday.

    NFA (5-1, 4-0) did remain unbeaten in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division with a 6-1 win over Woodstock Academy. Noah Straub led the Wildcats with a 41 while Sean Gilot added a 44. Killingly is 12-0.

    In other matches:

    • Tourtellotte defeated Wheeler 6-1 in an ECC Small match at Raceway Golf Course. Mike Anderson shot a 44 to lead the Lions (0-2, 0-1) and Jake Umphlett added a 48.

    • Brett Collins shot a 45 to earn medalist honors as Waterford defeated Fitch 4.5-2.5 at Great Neck Country Club. Bruce Taggert also won his match for the Lancers (5-2) while Kyle Musella and Nishant Patel won matches for Fitch (0-7).

    • James Kenefick earned medalist honors with a 48, leading St. Bernard past Windham, 6.5-.5, in an ECC Small match at The Golf Club of Windham. Conor Gorman, Will Dittman and John Nelson also won their matches for the Saints (1-4, 1-3).

    • Taylor Lewis shot a 36 to carry Bacon Academy past East Lyme 6.5-.5, in an ECC Large match at Chanticlair Golf Course. The Vikings fell to 0-3, 0-2.

    • Graham Aird fired a 39 and took medalist honors in Old Lyme's 175-186 win over Coginchaug in a Shoreline Conference match at Black Hall Club. Peter Macadam added a 44 for the Wildcats.

    • Grasso Tech and Putnam played to a 229-229 tie in a Constitution State Conference East match at Pequot Golf Club. Jacob Ballman led Grasso with a 53 and Ryan Smelser added a 54.

    • Ellis Tech defeated Norwich Tech 184-216 in a CSC East match at Harrisville Golf Course. Dylan Renshaw was the low scorer for Norwich Tech (1-4, 1-4) with a 48.
