    H.S. roundup: Wheeler's Houck hits four HRs, drives in 10

    North Stonington — Wheeler's Raven Houck had a perfect afternoon, going 4-for-4 — all home runs — while driving in 10 runs as the Lions defeated Windham 13-7 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division softball game on Saturday.

    Houck hit a grand slam, a three-run shot, a two-run homer and a solo blast for Wheeler (4-3, 3-0) — all four clearing the left field fence, to keep the Lions unbeaten in the division. The senior will be attending Division I Pennsylvania of the Ivy League next season.

    Nicole Rivera added two runs and scored a run for Wheeler.

    In other games:

    • Liz Richards and Kyra Teixeira each had three hits and three RBI for Old Lyme in a 22-8 loss to Haddam-Killingworth. Lexi Duddy added two hits for Old Lyme.

    Baseball

    • Matt Spang pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts and Miles Coe had three hits and three RBI to spark East Lyme's 12-2 victory over Fitch in the ECC Large Division, East Lyme's seventh straight victory after starting the season 0-4. Matt Abby and Jared Hunt added two hits each. East Lyme (3-1 in the Large) broke the game open with five runs in the third inning. Hunter Nadeau had a single and a sacrifice fly for Fitch (8-3, 3-1).

    • Tommy McDonald's two-run double highlighted a four-run sixth inning that lifted No. 9 Montville to a 4-3 victory over Stonington in the ECC Medium Division. Stonington (7-4, 1-4) scored three in the top of the seventh, two on a single by Kyle Whipple and one on the second of two doubles by John Moody, before McDonald relieved TT Bowens and record the game's final out. Bowen walked one and struck out 10 over 6.2 innings for Montville (10-2, 4-1).

    • Second-ranked Waterford topped Killingly 8-4 and Plainfield 12-0 in a pair of ECC Medium Division road games. In the first game, Walker Sutman was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Dan Castelpoggi and Alex Petchark homered for the Lancers. That backed a complete-game pitching performance for Bobby Silva. Against Plainfield, Michael Burrows was 2-for-3 with a grand slam, a double and three runs scored, Mike Rochetti had two RBI and two runs scored and Sutman tripled in a run. Petchark and Liam Spellman combined to pitch the shutout. Waterford is 10-0 overall, 5-0 in the Medium Division.

    • Dylan Wilkinson hit a three-run game-winning homer with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Wheeler a 6-5 victory over Windham in the first game of an ECC Small doubleheader. Windham won the second game 10-0. The Lions (2-7, 1-3) trailed 5-1 after six innings of the opener when Chris Munzer hit a two-run double to close the deficit to 5-3 and Wilkinson followed with his game-ending home run to left.

    Girls' lacrosse

    • Steph deLaforcade scored the game-winning goal with 2 minutes, 16 seconds remaining in overtime as East Lyme defeated Simsbury 12-11. East Lyme led 9-8 at halftime before a low-scoring second half resulted in a tie at the end of regulation. DeLaforcade had four goals to lead the Vikings (6-3) and Stacey Brodeur, Hailey Gordon and Caroline Healy each scored two. Alex Rose made 13 saves in the victory. Simsbury is 4-4.

    • Mary Grace Wyatt had three goals and three assists in Waterford's 13-0 victory over Griswold in the ECC Small Division. Ava Guthrie added two goals for Waterford (7-2, 5-0).

    • Williams scored the first four goals and went on to beat St. Andrew's 13-11 in the SENE. Allie Norman led the Blues (6-2, 5-1) with four goals and an assist, Beatrice Mills added three goals and two assists and Audrey Matson two goals and three assists.

    • Mae Sefransky had three goals and three assists in Fitch's 16-6 loss to Granby. Vineela Kanagala added two goals and an assist for Fitch (4-5-1) and Lauren Roper had a goal and an assist.

    • Megan Larmann scored three goals and Maddie Tilton had two in Ledyard's 11-7 loss to North Haven. Erin Gralton and Carina Mitchell each added a goal and an assist for Ledyard (1-8).

    Boys' lacrosse

    • Logan Morin had four goals and one assist while Jaedon Brown added two goals and three assists to lead Norwich Free Academy to a 10-9 victory over Stonington. Braydon Golas added one goal and two assists for the Wildcats (5-4) and Carter Ward had one goal and one assist. Jack Hall and Andrew Frosti scored three goals apiece for the Bears (7-2), while Colton Robinson scored twice, Connor Boumenot had three assists and David Bibeau two.

    • Tyler Price scored eight goals as Montville outlasted Old Saybrook 11-9. Pat Caron, Sam Kury and Chris Kotecki each added a goal for the Indians (5-3).

    • Luke Letellier finished with six goals and three assists in Fitch's 10-5 victory over Sheehan. Noah Reuling added four goals and three assists for Fitch (3-6) and Christian Snodgrass made 13 saves.

    • Shannon Desmond had two goals and David McCarthy two assists in Williams' 9-6 loss to St. Andrew's. JJ Johnson, Henry Lahm and Lucian Kronholm added goals for the Blues (1-4).

    Boys' track

    • Ledyard's Collin Wiltshire won the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 11 inches and contributed to a pair of winning relay teams at the 36th annual Ledyard Relays. Wiltshire joined Dennis Charles and Mychai Sebastian to finish first in the triple jump relay (117-0.25) and was part of the winning shuttle hurdles relay team along with Rayne Saylor, Alex Genova and Carl-Hens Bien-Aime (1:18.6).

    In addition, Fitch's Brian Robinson won the discus with a throw of 147-5 and the Falcons went 1-2-3 in the event to capture the discus relay title. Eli Rosario Vega was second (139-2) and Everett Guess third (113-2). Also for the Falcons, the 4x800 relay team of Owen Stanfield, Tom Readett, Matt Kerst and Daelon Morgan was first in 8:50.1 seconds and Isaac Perez, Isiah Sebastian and Alex Schwindt combined to win the pole vault relay (31-0).

    Waterford's Rolando Rivera, Jonathan Keth and Nicholas Thomas won the long jump relay (55-7.5).

    Girls' track

    • Montville's Ying Zi won the triple jump with a leap of 34-4.25 inches and joined teammates Isabella Persons and Catherine Furman to win the triple jump relay with a total of 85-9.75 on the second day of the Ledyard Relays. The Indians also won the 4xmile relay. Suzie Fitzgerald, Karishma Chouhan, Abby Baukus and Mady Whittaker combined for a time of 24:17.2.

    Boys' tennis

    • Seniors Jack Hisle and Lucy Burr won their No. 1 doubles match 8-7 (10-8) on Spring Sports Day at Williams, as the Blues blanked Marianapolis Prep 7-0. Hisle and Burr led 6-0 and lost their lead before pulling out the victory in a tiebreaker. Jon Powell, James Burris, Joe Reiser and Reese Berman won singles matches for Williams. Ashton Kozlowski-Drew Williams and Olivia Foster-Miles Schuman added doubles wins.
