    H.S. roundup: Bowdish's 100th career goal highlights Waterford boys' lacrosse win

    Waterford — Logan Bowdish scored five goals, including the 100th of his career, as Waterford remained unbeaten with a 9-6 victory over Stonington in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II boys' lacrosse game on Saturday.

    Bowdish also had an assist for the Lancers (5-0, 2-0), who play at Bacon Academy on Tuesday in an early-season showdown of Division II unbeaten.

    L.J. Pezzolesi added two goals and two assists for Waterford while Bray Griffith and Ryan Huta each scored goals and Michael Laforte had three assists.

    Ben Huynh had two goals for the Bears (3-2, 1-1) while Nick DeDominicus had one goal and one assists and Riley Burnside had a pair of assists.

    In other games:

    • Valley Regional broke open a close game with seven goals in the third period en route to a 19-11 non-league win over Fitch. Bray Wilson had five goals and two assists to lead the Falcons (2-5) while Riley Jordan had three goals and one assist and Noah Rueling had two goals and five assists.

    • Chris Kotecki had three goals and two assists during Montville's 14-9 non-league loss to West Haven. Sam Kury added two goals and one assist for the Indians (2-4).

    Girls' lacrosse

    • Megan Sturm scored with 12 seconds left to lift Waterford to a 13-12 win over Fitch. Maddie Lynch of Fitch had tied the game at 12-12 with 1:34 left. Jacklyn Lavoie had five goals and an assist, Julia Gigliotti two goals and an assist and Sturm scored twice for Waterford (5-1). Maggie O'Leary had five goals, Maddie Catlett two goals and an assist, Molly Reinhold a goal and two assists, Lynch scored twice and Danielle McIlquham had a goal and an assist for Fitch (1-4).

    • Somers defeated Ledyard 15-6 in a non-league game. Megan Larmann had two goals and one assist to lead the Colonels (2-6) while Avery Samokar added one goal and one assists and Julia Austin, Maddie Pipech and Sabrina Mitchell each scored once.

    • Kara Bassett scored four goals as St. Bernard pulled away in the second half for a 10-4 win over Montville in an ECC Division III game. Mia Londregan added three goals for the Saints (3-1, 3-0), who led only 5-4 at halftime, while Brianne Hoffa had one goal and one assist. Alyssa Turchetta scored three goals for the Indians (4-3, 2-1).

    Baseball

    • Dan Castelpoggi drove in three runs as Waterford beat Montville 17-3 in an ECC Division II game. Alex Petchark and Walker Sutman had two RBI each and Collin Bakken, Castelpoggi, Petchark and Sutman had two hits each for Waterford (8-1, 5-0). Doug Delacruz, Jacob Plikus and freshman Zach Southard drove in runs for Montville (5-2, 2-2).

    • Colton Bender and Brendan Wood hit home runs to lead Lyman Memorial to a 6-1 win over St. Bernard in an ECC Division III game. Tucker Freeman had two hits for the Saints (3-5, 3-2) while losing pitcher Mason Knutson had seven strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

    Softball

    • Waterford rode a five-run second inning to a 9-6 victory over Montville in an ECC Division II game. Gina McKittrick was 2-for-3 with a double for the Lancers (7-1, 5-0) and Madison Nott was 2-for-4. Alex Michon hit a solo home run in the first for the Indians (3-5, 2-3) and finished 2-for-3 while Sarah Bigalbal added a pair of hits.

    • Lyman Memorial built a 4-0 lead and held off Wheeler 4-2 in an ECC Division III game. Emma Stock was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Lions (1-6, 1-4) and Sam Muller added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.

    Crew

    • East Lyme's girls' first varsity bout won a 1,200-meter race over host Farmington, Glastonbury and Stonington. The team included coxswain Audrey Bartlett and stroke Kristina Fenton, Katie Long, Rasa Kirvelevicius, Alex Stewart, Julie Lefurge, Alison Christensen, Gretcher Stelter and Abigal Lottridge. Stonington finished third. The East Lyme boys' first varsity placed fourth and included coxswain Sarah Thomas and stroke Dan Rubio, Jack Wheeler, William Christensen, Greg Stewart, Clayton Cushing, Jaden Lilbern, Ethan Rhodig and Gavin Fennel.
