    H.S. track and field: East Lyme boys beat Fitch 82-68 in ECC Div. I meet

    East Lyme — Dylan Hatajik won four events, leading East Lyme to an 82-68 win over Fitch in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys' track and field meet on Wednesday.

    Hatajik, a junior, won the 100-meter dash (11.3), 400 (53.6), long jump (20 feet) and triple jump (39-4). Joe Andrews, Akhil Chilamkurthi, Nick Tricarico and Sam Whittaker also won events for East Lyme (6-1, 2-0), which won two of the relays thanks to Patrick Dowd, Riley Carr, Kane Salan, Ryan McCauley, Tyler Valdez, Liam McCarthy and Tricarico.

    Matt Kerst, Alex Schwindt and Adrian Atad won two events each for Fitch (3-1, 1-1). Kerst won the 800 (2:11.5) and 1,600 (4:28.6), Schwindt won the high jump (5-6) and pole vault (12-0) and Atad won the shot put (41-11) and discus (104-0). Fitch's Chris Holmes won the javelin and teammates Tom Readett, Ben Godley, Ryan Poe and Gager Collier won the 4x800 relay.

    In other meets: 

    • Nik Strickland placed first in the 110 hurdles (15.9) and 400 (52.8), pacing unbeaten Montville past Killingly 82-68 in an ECC Division II meet. The Indians (5-0, 2-0) also received individual wins from Nick Angell (100, 10.9), Nick Donnell (800, 2:10.5), Greg Clark (200, 22.4), Steve Bollinger (javelin, 135-3) and Jack Ware (shot put, 41-11). 

    • Devin Craig captured four events, powering Waterford past Bacon Academy 91-59 in ECC Division II. Craig won the 110 hurdles (15.4), long jump (21-0), high jump (6-5.25) and triple jump (40-8) while Shayne Bechloff took first in the 100 (11.0) and 200 (23.4) for the Lancers (2-2, 1-1). Connor Chung won the 400 (53.9) and Sam Leres placed first in the 3,200 (11:06.2) for Waterford.

    Girls

    • Lauren Ross won the 100 hurdles (17.0) and 300 hurdles (53.4) in Montville's 88-61 victory over Killingly in ECC Division II. Christi Johnson also was a double-winner for the Indians (4-1, 2-0), winning the shot put (30-7) and discus (88-2) while Mady Whittaker won the 800 (2:25.6) and Rachel Marchini took the 400 (64.9).

    • Sophia Podeszwa won the 100 hurdles (16.2) and 300 hurdles (49.4) in Waterford's 86-64 loss to Bacon Academy in ECC Division II. Carissa Aekins (100, triple jump) and Zora Labonte (200, 400) also were double winners for the Lancers (1-3, 0-2). Cat Saucier took first in the 800 and Ellie Lokken won the high jump for Waterford.

    • Lillian Whittaker, Claire Mason, Isabelle Riker and Jamie Foster won two events each as East Lyme beat Fitch 89-61 in an ECC Division I meet. Whittaker won the 1,600 (6:07) and 3,200 (13:42), Mason won the 400 (62.7) and 80 (2:41.9), Riker won the 300 hurdles (52.52) and high jump (4-8) and Foster won the discus (92-3) and javelin (94-11). Sasha Salan also won the shot put for East Lyme (5-2, 2-0). Fitch's Madison Powe won the 100 (12.9), 200 (27.1) and long jump (15-9). Denise Strong and Ryana Kelsey also won events for Fitch (2-2, 0-2).

    • Joyce Yuen was a triple-winner during Norwich Free Academy's 145-4 win over New London in an ECC Division I meet. Yuen won the long jump (15-4), high jump (4-8) and triple jump (32-5) for the Wildcats (3-0, 1-0) while Stephanie Jarvis won the 100 (13.3) and 200 (27.7) and Emma Grace Ricketts captured the 800 (2:28) and 3,200 (14:32). New London is 0-5, 0-2.
