North Stonington needs affordable housing

So as I read all of the different articles in The Day about all of the affordable housing projects going on around surrounding towns from mine I have to ask myself, "Why is my town so afraid of this?"

Stonington, Groton, Ledyard and many other towns have embraced what affordable housing really is so why hasn't North Stonington? North Stonington has almost no affordable housing and when they do get a development, trying to introduce it is meet with opposition by the first selectman, why? The state mandates 10 percent of a town to be deemed affordable. Are we exempt? Maybe some day the town will see the real need for it as our seniors and youth head out to our neighboring towns that welcome this concept.
