Libraries meet needs, continue state aid
What a shame! Did you know that Connecticut is proposing to cut about $2 million from the public library budgets? Did you know that the state budget support to public libraries is less than 0.049 percent of the total state budget? It will be a sad day in Connecticut when the residents allow this to happen.
Where did you go in that last horrible storm a few years back when you were without power and no heat? Many folks headed to the only place open, the public library. In many towns it was the only place open for a hot cup of coffee, recharging a cell phone, and just basically to get warm. Did you know that many of the academic libraries also opened not only their buildings, but asked their institutions to open their laundry facilities and their cafeterias for their neighbors?
Please contact your legislators and ask to have the funding restored.
