    Retirement community engages with world

    xxxxx

Lee Howard did his usual superior job reporting the amenities enjoyed by residents of the StoneRidge retirement community in Mystic, like my wife and myself, “StoneRidge adds flexibility for a new age,” (April 19). I’ll mention a couple more he did not have space to include. Some residents are now getting individual garden plots started. Others will attend on May 12 a monthly Great Decisions discussion sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association. The May topic will be Human Trafficking, usually thought to be an issue affecting people in other parts of the world. But our moderator will be a local pastor whose church is conducting training to reduce the active sex slavery that exists here in New London County.

Living in a retirement community does not mean isolation from either world or local concerns. Guests are invited to the May 12 discussion at 1:30 p.m.
