Speak out to protect vital library services

    xxxxx

Have you ever used your local library card to check out books from another Connecticut library?

Have you ever requested a book from another library because it isn’t available at your local library?

The Connecticard program, which allows you to access library resources throughout the state, is in grave danger! To protect this resource, you need to pay attention to the governor’s proposed budget cut to the Connecticard program. The proposed budget would eliminate Connecticard, and Connecticut residents will no longer be able to borrow materials from any public library across the state. If Connecticard is eliminated, the delivery system, Connecticar (the C-Car van), may be discontinued as well, resulting in no delivery for interlibrary loan requests.

All state public libraries will be affected if the budget proposal passes the legislature, as we rely on shared resources for pleasure reading, research and entertainment.

Write to your state legislators and the governor to urge that funding for state libraries be restored in this year's budget.
