Republicans deserve voice in debate about DCF
When state government is not meeting its goals, tough questions must be asked and high-ranking officials must be held accountable, “DCF struggles continue,” (July 21).
There are serious deficiencies at the Department of Children and Families, and Sen. Minority Leader Len Fasano is asking DCF Commissioner Joette Katz those tough questions.
Republicans in the state legislature are joining with Fasano to ask why DCF has regressed in recent years, leaving children at risk and without vital services. We continue to wonder why the comprehensive DCF reforms that we proposed during the 2015 legislative session were rejected. On behalf of vulnerable children across Connecticut, we will re-introduce those ideas in 2016.
We hope the DCF leadership; legislative Democrats and the Malloy administration will give our Republican policy suggestions the serious attention they deserve.
State Sen. Henri Martin
