Happy to see green meadows replacing Pfizer labs

As a resident of the Eastern Point neighborhood of Groton City, I am compelled to give kudos to Pfizer Inc. for the marvelous job they did demolishing the blighted chemical labs on their South Campus.

Contrary to the detractors at the time who foresaw a brownfield looking like post-WWII Berlin or modern day Bridgeport, the rolling green meadow they left behind reminds me of the early 1950s and the sheep and cows that once grazed there on family farms. If only Christy's Luncheonette and the Victory Package store could be returned to their original footprints then Eastern Point could really be whole again.

Now, with the city's 22 percent property tax increase this coming year and the State of Connecticut's current non-nurturing of large businesses, one can only hope that in short-order Pfizer will be punching the rest of their infrastructure into the ground leaving us with new and wider green views that will surely enhance the entrance to our little corner of paradise.
