Heed Malloy message and work together

Having just watched and read the text of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s State of the State Address, I am greatly heartened by his leadership and the possibilities and potential for Connecticut’s future.

He talked about the need to work differently, to reform the processes for determining the state budget and its administration, and holding commissioners accountable for its management.

He talked about being honest about our challenges and sharing all ideas through bipartisan discussions throughout the legislative session. This comes with a responsibility that once the challenges of compromise have been reached, legislators must be ready to support the final budget bill with their vote.

He received bipartisan standing ovations on a number of these points. It is now up to all members of the General Assembly, Republican and Democrat, to rise to this opportunity and lead. In this way we are all winners.

This is leadership, creating unity in diversity through how we work together to be part of the solution.
