A deserved tax break

I would like to comment on the letter, “Tax advice ignored, creating more inequity in taxing pensions,” (Sept. 8). The writer first faults the General Assembly for not following a State Tax Panel recommendation and exempting military pensions from state income tax. He then implies taxing military pensions could provide funding for social programs. The General Assembly did a logical and generous act by exempting military pensions from state taxes. I think other sources can be found to fund social programs than to take money from the pockets of our retired military.
