Somers is a leader unlike her opponent

I write to endorse Heather Somers for state Senate. As a lifelong state resident and University of Connecticut graduate, Somers is determined to help small businesses. She has business experience as a founding partner of a biotech company in Willimantic, which has created nearly 100 jobs and makes products used by our military to help wounded soldiers. She also serves on the State Economic Development Committee.

In addition to lending her experience to our small businesses, and as a direct result, our economy, she will fight for wiser state spending, lowering taxes and reducing political/government red tape. Heather Somers was elected mayor of Groton in 2012-2014 where she was able to work with agencies to lower taxes twice.

Unlike Heather, her Democratic opponent, Timothy Bowles, voted in favor of Gov. Malloy's higher taxes while serving in the House of Representatives. Bowles is also talking about regionalizing our towns, which likely will result in another layer of taxes. We as taxpayers need someone willing to fight to stop the spending and Heather's track record shows she is the best person to elect.

Vote for a leader, not a follower. Heather Somers for District 18.
