What if all the time and energy spent fighting for or against abortion was spent instead on fighting unplanned pregnancies? What if the vast amounts of money spent on both sides was used instead for ads, movies, television shows, social media campaigns, etc., that fight unplanned pregnancies? What a powerful force that could be. 

Why don’t we look at the causes of abortion, and join together to fight rape, incest, casual sexual behavior and whatever else we can find? Let’s blanket the country with ads for women and men promoting responsible sexual behavior. Let's make access to birth control cheap and easy. 

I believe both sides want the same thing, that each child is wanted, loved and cared for. Abortion is never something a woman really wants. It is a desperate response to a desperate situation.

So let’s fight together to make abortion unnecessary, not illegal. 

Or are there powerful groups that somehow benefit from keeping this fight going? I wonder.
