Courtney's opportunity to reach across the aisle

Congressman Joe Courtney of the second congressional district has a unique opportunity to show leadership when the next round of negotiations on health care reform begins, which I predict will happen soon. The people in the 33rd state senate district have communicated with me the need to repeal and replace Obamacare, a program that will implode on its own with the continuation of rising premiums. Congressman Courtney has an opportunity to work with both parties to create a bill that can win the support of Democrats and Republicans. Congressman Courtney can take the lead in creating a bipartisan solution.

Congressman Courtney, I’m sure, understands that the citizens of our district are concerned about the high price of medication, the lack of competition in health care choices, as well as the decrease in the quality of care. Serving as state senator to a large contingency of the second congressional district, I hear these frustrations from the hardworking people that make up the 33rd district quite often. In addition, this is a great opportunity for Congressman Courtney to show Connecticut Democrats the tremendous upside of reaching across the aisle. Democrats in Washington are planning to do just that when it comes to President Trump’s plan for billions of dollars in infrastructure investment. If it can be done with infrastructure it can be done with health care.
