20 years later, still backing Catala for New London school board

I am honored to write this letter in support of Jason Catala as he seeks re-election to the New London Board of Education. I have observed him work for all children in New London. I watched him fight for the students of Saint Joseph School so that they can have equal nursing services as other schools.

I watched him not support adding a grant position at the last minute when the state budget was not finalized and the board and city budget was still in limbo. I watched him fight to fingerprint student workers who are 18 years or older in an attempt to keep our youth safe. I watched him not be afraid to ask the hard questions. I watched him work hard to begin the work so that the district will eventually have an inquiry based curriculum at all grade levels. I watched him advocate for students in every New London school.

The role of school board member is very important, perhaps the most important elected position in the state. I voted for Jason Catala in 1997 when he first ran, and every time he has run for an office. I look forward to casting my vote for him in November and encourage others to do the same.
