'Transgenders' want surgergy on military dole

In the article, "Trump: No transgender soldiers in military," (July 27), I notice Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, in defiance to our president, has issued an executive order allowing transgenders in the state National Guard. What is more ludicrous is allowing membership on gender "identity," an open ended rule that could change "identity" at will. Where was he when President Obama promised the American people we could keep our health plan and our doctors? This whole issue against our president is becoming one of party loyalty and politics, not one of what is good for the country.

It is apparent that transgenders want the government to pay for their sex-change operations. As I understand it, the operation would put a service member out of commission for about 200 days. Accordingly, if a Guard unit is deployed, while one person is taken away from his family, ostensibly for a year, a transgender person undergoing sex change surgery would stay home, and another Guard member would have to take his/her place. As a 26-year veteran, I know of no one who would agree to this logistical nightmare.

John F. Kennedy had it right when he said, "Sometimes party loyalty asks too much."
