L'etat c'est moi, roughly translated as "I am the state" and attributed to the 18th-century French tyrant Louis XIV, can certainly be seen in the attitude and behaviors exhibited by President Trump. His threat to regulate Google because not enough nice things about him were among the hits that resulted from his Googling "Trump News," and his firing of aides and cabinet members that do not show personal rather than constitutional loyalty indicate that Mr. Trump truly believes that he is the embodiment of the state. He has performed one miracle however: Never in a million years would I have believed that anything could make me feel sympathy for Jeff Sessions.
