Church buys former scout camp in Bozrah

A Christian church has bought 340-acre Camp Tadma, a former Boy Scout retreat in Bozrah, for close to $1 million.

The Hartford Courant reported this week that Revelation Church of Bozrah had purchased the camp with a ranger house during an auction, outbidding conservationists. The price was $960,300.

The state's branch of the Trust for Public Land submitted a bid on the property that was too low, according to the Courant.

Conservationists had coveted the property for its location next to the Bear Hill Wildlife Management Area and hundreds of acres of farmland that the state controls by owning development rights.
