Mashantuckets, Foxwoods donate $134,000 to local charities
Mashantucket — The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and Foxwoods Resort Casino announced that their 2014 giving campaign raised more than $134,000 for three local charities.
The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut received $70,271, Community Health Charities of New England $40,807 and the Employee Emergency Assistance Fund $23,266. In addition, Foxwoods’ annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign collected hundreds of new, unwrapped children’s toys, blankets, pajamas, jackets and diapers for local families in need. All items were donated to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and its Tommy Toy Fund program.
“It’s been a privilege to have been able to help our fellow neighbors and families in need,” Rodney Butler, the Mashantucket Pequot chairman, said. “We’re thankful for the support of our guests, team members, and the general public who joined our efforts to bring joy to our community.”
