The Samuel Smith Farmstead on Plants Dam Road in East Lyme is holding a fall open house from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Volunteers with the Friends of the Samuel Smith House will be on hand to show off the 1685 farmstead and give demonstrations of sheep wool carding and other colonial home activities. There will also be live music, refreshments and fall decorations available by donation.

The farmstead, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1979, is owned by the Town of East Lyme. It has been preserved and restored to showcase colonial life with funds from the town and the Historic Preservation Division of the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
