Program in Pawcatuck to focus on residents killed at war

Stonington — Former police Chief David Erskine will present a program that features the local men killed in action during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Harley P. Chase VFW Post on Route 1 in Pawcatuck.

Erskine will make the presentation on behalf of the Stonington Historical Society.

Erskine spent a year compiling the research for the “Lest We Forget” program with help from Bob Suppicich, a fellow history enthusiast and board member of the Stonington Historical Society, and writer, researcher and Army veteran Suzanne Matteson. Their work led to the discovery that the names of two soldiers had been left off monuments to those killed in the wars at Town Hall. The names recently were added.

The Fallen Heroes program was offered this past spring and is being presented once again by popular demand.
