WHO: Kate and her two children, ages 9 and 5
AGENCY: Always Home Inc., formerly Mystic Area Shelter & Hospitality (MASH)
THEIR SITUATION: Kate and her children live on the edge of homelessness. In spite of working 40-plus hours a week, Kate makes minimum wage and struggles to afford rent, utilities, food and other basic necessities. Through Always Home's Employment and Training program, Kate will enroll in a Certified Nursing Assistant program and get the state license she needs to apply for a job at a local assisted living facility.
