Boil water notice issued for Griswold neighborhood

Griswold__ The Connecticut Water Co. is recommending that customers who are served by the Bay Mountain Water System boil tap water before drinking or using it.

The boil notice was issued after the company said there was a loss of water pressure in the system. The affected streets are Bay Mountain Drive, Juniper Lane, Old Shetucket Tunpike, Rixtown Road and Youngs Road.

Customers should boil water to be used for drinking, cooking, food preparation, baby formula or any purpose where it will be consumed, or use bottled water.

Customers can continue to use the water for bathing, cleaning, sanitation or other purposes.

The boil notice will remain in effect until water samples are collected from the distribution system and tested to ensure no bacteria is in the water supply. The company said that is expected to be done within 72 hours. Anyone with questions, can call Connecticut Water at 1-800-286-5700.
