Denison Society of Mystic receives $15,000 state grant
Mystic — State Rep. Diana Urban, D-North Stonington, has announced that the state Department of Agriculture has awarded a $15,000 Farm Viability Grant to the Denison Society.
“Since the 1930s, the Denison Society has been dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Stonington, and this grant made possible through the Community Investment Act will help the Society continue its important work for our community,” Urban said.
The Denison Homestead Museum spotlights the contributions of one of the town’s founding families. Each of the five rooms in the house focuses on a different period in history and the Denison family members who lived there at that time dating back to 1717. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
