    Waterford High School hosts Orchestra Festival on Thursday

    Waterford — Waterford High School hosts its annual Orchestra Festival for almost 200 students on Thursday.

    Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the event features clinics and workshops presented by music educators as well as musicians from the Hartt School and Central Connecticut State University.

    The event's grand finale will see all 200 students — fourth through 12th grades — performing "The Russian Music Box" by Soon Hee Newbold on stage about 11:30 a.m.

    Visitors include Anton Miller, professor of violin at the Hartt School; Rita Porfiris, associate professor of viola and director of chamber music at the Hartt School; Matt McCauley, musician and singer; Julie Ribchinsky, professor of music at CCSU; and CCSU students Amanda Gooch, Michael Terranova and Sarah Harvey.
