Kindness in Real Life: Groton Elks fund beach mobility mat
The Groton Elks Lodge used a gratitude grant to provide a mobility access mat to Eastern Point Beach in the City of Groton. This mat provides a beach access pathway for individuals of all abilities, pedestrians, wheelchair users and strollers.
Lodge officers and members coordinated with the Groton mayor and city council members to have a ribbon cutting ceremony at the beach on July 18. Bob Van Bibber, a member of the Groton Elks, took the first official trip down the mat.
