Daniel Pearl concert to be held Thursday in New London

The Shoreline Acoustic Music Society will present performances by local musicians in New London on Thursday to honor the memory of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and killed by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002.

For years, the society has participated in an annual international concert series established by Pearl’s family in support of his belief that music reaffirms a commitment to tolerance and humanity.

The free event will be staged from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dev’s on State restaurant, 312 State St., New London.

Local musicians are invited to perform in this unplugged, open-mic show. The society also holds informal music gatherings at 3 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month at the Hygienic Art Galleries on Bank Street in New London.
