'Click It or Ticket' campaign nets 137 seat-belt citations, 4 drug arrests

New London — Police made 222 vehicle stops and issued more than 100 seat-belt citations and almost three-dozen cellphone citations during a "Click It or Ticket" seat-belt enforcement campaign from Monday, May 20, to Sunday, June 2.

In a news release, police said Monday the program, which encourages seat-belt use and educates the public on life-saving benefits of buckling up and car safety, led to 137 seat-belt citations, 31 cellphone citations and 45 other miscellaneous violations.

The vehicle stops also resulted in four felony drug arrests, the apprehension of four fugitives with warrants, and citations for eight operators for allegedly driving with a suspended license.
