    Avery Point rained out again

The opening game for the UConn-Avery Point baseball team at the NJCAA Division II World Series was rained out on Sunday for the second straight day.

Heavy rains hit Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid., Okla., right before the Pointers (34-11) were set to play Madison College of Wisconsin. That game is scheduled to begin Monday at 11 a.m. Doug Domnarski (8-1), the former Stonington High School star, is scheduled to pitch for Avery Point.

Frederick, Md., beat Lincoln Land, Ill., 14-6 in the conclusion of Saturday's suspended game, but that's all of Sunday's schedule that was played.

There are four games scheduled in the 10-team, double-elimination tournament on Monday and four more on Tuesday. The rest of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
