    Monahan, Rocco among winners at the Speedbowl

    Diego Monahan took the lead on lap 3 and never looked back en route to winning the 35-lap SK Modifieds race at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday night.

    Quaker Hill's Monahan was joined in Victory Lane by Keith Rocco of Berlin (Late Models), Corey Barry of Plainfield (SK Light Modifieds), Noah Korner of Canton (Legends), Kenny Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon (Mini Stocks) and Allen Coates Sr. of Ledyard (Limited Sportsman).

    Monahan became the unofficial points leader with his win. Tyler Chadwick of Ledyard was second and Craig Lutz of Miller Place, N.Y., was third. Following Rocco to the finish line were Anthony Flannery of East Hampton and Jason Palmer of Berlin. Josh Galvin of Oakdale was second in the SK Light race, followed by Rick Williams of Haddam.

    Cory DiMatteo of Farmington finished second in the Legends race and Kyle Rodgers of Waterbury was third. Brad Craddick of Wyoming, R.I., was second and Dave Trudeau of Mansfield was third in the Mini Stocks and Al Stone III of Oakdale was second in the Limited Sportsman race, followed by Scott Sundeen of Sutton, Mass.
