    Tigers win on a combined three-hitter

    Three Connecticut Tigers pitchers combined on a three-hitter in a 3-1 win over Tri-City on Wednesday in a New York-Penn League game played before 4,324 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, N.Y.

    Starter Sandy Baez allowed one hit over five innings with one earned run and four strikeouts for the Tigers (29-31). Reliever Jordan Smith allowed one hit and struck out one in three innings to earn the win and Jake Shull earned the save.

    Patrick Mackenzie had two hits, including a solo home run, for Connecticut and Shane Zeile had two hits, including a double, and scored.

    Dexture McCall doubled and scored for the ValleyCats (35-28).
