    Local roundup: Spellman, Vital lead T-More to victory

    Providence — Omari Spellman scored 24 points as St. Thomas More beat GB Academy from the Czech Republic 77-59 Sunday at the National Prep School Invitational.

    Christian Vital scored 18 points and Arkel Ager had eight rebounds for the Chancellors (24-2), who beat Helsinki Basketball Academy of Finland 90-73 on Saturday. Vital had 19 points and six rebounds, Spellman scored 15, Ager had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Julian Batts had five assists for T-More.

    In other games:

    • Daniel Aronowitz scored 25 of his 27 points in the second half as Williams College pulled away for a 70-67 win over Connecticut College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game. Conn (12-10, 3-5) led 33-25 at halftime. Lee Messier came off the bench to score 16 points, Zuri Pavlin had 14 rebounds, Tyler Rowe had 10 points and five rebounds and David Labossiere scored 10 for Conn. 

    • Avery Point lost to Bunker Hill Community College in an NJCAA New England Div. III game, 107-86. William Orr scored 30 points and Aaron Lorenzo and Ibo Rivera of Norwich had 12 points each for Avery Point (2-23, 2-13).

    Women's basketball

    • Williams College outscored Conn College 22-16 in the fourth quarter, pulling away for a 64-59 win in a NESCAC game. Mairead Hynes had 20 points and six rebounds, Payton Ouimette had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Liz Malman had 11 points and six rebounds and Kylie Caouette had six assists for Conn (16-5, 5-3). 

    H.S. hockey

    • Barlow broke a 2-2 tie with three straight goals in the third period and went on to beat the Eastern Connecticut Eagles 6-3 on Saturday. Collin Hall, Kody Twomey and Will Vorra had goals, Han Sherman made 28 saves and Jimmy Fitzmaurice and Larry Nolan had assists for the Eagles (4-12).
