    Local roundup: Susi, Domnarski lead UConn to victory

    South Orange, N.J. — Zac Susi's two-run double in the top of the eighth inning led UConn to a 2-1 win over Seton Hall in a nonleague baseball game on Friday.

    Former Stonington and Avery Point standout Doug Domnarski earned the win in relief. Domnarski (1-3) gave up three hits and a run over four innings with four strikeouts and a walk. Susi's double, which came with two outs, scored Willy Yahn and Jack Lambrecht. Yahn had two hits for the Huskies (11-8).

    In another game:

    • Coast Guard lost to Castleton 9-2 in a nonleague game. Jake Behne singled home a run in the fifth inning for Coast Guard and Timbo Duncan's team-leading fourth homer of the season came in the ninth for the Bears' other run. Kyle Jackson and Trey Rittenhouse had two hits each and Pawcatuck's Brendan McNeil tripled for Coast Guard (6-8).  

    Women's basketball

    • Stonington's Tatyana LaFrance Boyce and New London's Charee Osborne were among the players selected for the NJCAA Region 21 Women's Basketball All-Star Game on March 29 at Community College of Rhode Island in Warwick. The game begins at 6 p.m.

    LaFrance is joined by Avery Point teammates Meagan Bianchi and Taleeha Green on the South team, although the injured Green will not play. Avery Point coach George Hardison will coach the South. Osborne, who plays at Roxbury Community College, will play for the North team.
