Local roundup: Balanced T-More defeats Bridgton 82-65
Montville — D.J. Mitchell scored 18 points to lead four St. Thomas More players in double figures as the Chancellors returned from a brief holiday break to defeated Bridgton Academy 82-65 in a men's college basketball game on Wednesday.
Adrian Nunez added 17 points, K.K. Curry 17 and Miles Tention 11 for T-More (3-2), which snapped a two-game losing streak, while Everett Hammond had 11 assists and five rebounds.

• Hasani Williams had 22 points and 17 rebounds as Mitchell College held off John Jay 72-69 on Tuesday night in New York. Brayvon Young added a season-high 21 points for the Mariners (2-3), who overcame an early 27-14 deficit by going on a 32-point run that extended into the second half and gave them a 46-27 lead before John Jay got back into the game.
Women's basketball
• Heather King had 18 points and 10 rebounds as Springfield College defeated Coast Guard Academy 64-53 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference opener for both schools. The Pride (3-2, 1-0) took charge by scoring the final nine points of the third quarter to begin a 17-2 run that turned a 38-35 deficit into a 52-40 lead with 6:18 remaining. Micaela Martinelli led the Bears (1-3, 0-1) with 14 points and seven rebounds while Brenna Wood scored a career-high 13 points off the bench.
• Saint Joseph rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half to overtake host Mitchell 74-70. Allegra Jones scored a career-high 25 points for the Mariners (0-4) and added six steals while Haley Garcia scored 14 points and Jessica Lohneiss added 10. Rajeen Mayo scored 27 points for Saint Joseph (4-2), going 17 for 18 from the foul line.
• Connecticut College won its fourth straight game with a 62-41 nonleague win over Worcester State in New London. Kylie Caouette had 11 points, eight steals and four assists to lead the Camels (4-1) while Casey Walsh added 11 points. Ex-St. Bernard star Kaitlyn Berkel scored six points for Worcester State.

• UConn's Junior Joseph, a senior linebacker, was the Huskies' lone representative on the All-American Athletic Conference team, earning honorable mention honors.
