    Local roundup: Valley/Old Lyme improves to 2-0

    Clinton — Nick Braga's 79-yard run in the fourth quarter gave Valley Regional/Old Lyme breathing room in an eventual 21-6 Pequot Football League win over the Morgan School.

    Braga finished with 125 yards on 10 carries. Quarterback Ryan Santos was 7-of-10 for 152 yards and two touchdowns, while Jaelen Arnum (seven catches, 98 yards) and Jason O'Brien (five catches, 69 yards) each hauled in a scoring catch. Arnum also had one of three interceptions for the Warriors (2-0), who led 14-0 at halftime. The Huskies (0-2) closed to within 14-6 in the fourth quarter before Braga's scoring run.

    In other games:

    • Lyman Hall took advantage of three Montville fumbles and a blocked punt to build a 34-0 lead after one quarter en route to a 41-0 non-conference win in Wallingford. Austin Ruiz and Louis Ferri scored two touchdowns apiece in that first quarter for the Trojans. Montville is 1-1.

    • Bunnell jumped out to a 32-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 44-6 non-conference win over Ledyard in Stratford. The Colonels' lone touchdown came on an 8-yard run by Brayden Grim in the second half.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Fitch rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Lyman Memorial in five games. Game scores were 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 25-18 and 16-14. Karly Morales had 34 assists for the unbeaten Falcons (3-0) while Nora Ryan added 14 kills, 12 digs and six blocks, Aby Hagley had 14 digs and Ciarra Jimenez had 12 kills.

    • Mya Delesdernier had 12 kills and seven assists to help lead East Lyme to a 25-21, 25-13 and 25-15 victory over Griswold. Sydney Iannantuono added 11 kills and six digs for the Vikings (4-1) while Kamryn Ebersole had 22 assists and Sophie Dubreuil 12 digs.

    • Eliana Jewell (nine kills) and Maddy Allen (three aces) helped NFA beat Montville 3-0. Game scores were 25-17, 25-23 and 25-15. Bella Llano added 14 assists and Kennedy Jakan contributed five kills for the Wildcats (3-0). Mackenzie Ullrich paced the Indians (3-1) with nine assists, five kills, 13 digs and three aces, and teammate Haley Kerwin added four aces and 11 digs.

    • Wilcox Tech defeated Grasso Tech 25-14, 25-8 and 25-13 in the Connecticut Technical Conference. Michelle Warren had two aces and seven digs for the Eagles while Samaire Delgado added five digs and one block and Sherly Caba had two kills and eight digs.

    • Karen Preza had 10 service points, seven aces and five kills to highlight Norwich Tech's 25-21, 25-21 and 25-14 win over Windham Tech in the CTC East. Riley Riewerts added 11 service points, three aces, five kills, four assists and four digs for the Warriors (1-3, 1-0).

    H.S. swimming

    • East Lyme edged Ledyard 86-78 in the season-opening ECC meet for both schools. The Vikings picked up individual wins from Emma Vlaun in the 200 freestyle (2:18.10), Nikki Hahn in the 200 individual medley (2:25.00), Mary Kathryn Taylor in the 50 free (26.76), Maive Counter in the 100 free (1:01.78), Hannah Yousuf in the 500 free (6:03.90) and Grace Liu in the 100 breastroke (1:14.94). Olivia Strelevitz won the 100 butterfly (1:04.06) and 100 backstroke (1:05.48) for the Colonels.

    • Gloria Ng won the 200-yard freestyle, 100 butterfly and was part of two winning relay teams as Norwich Free Academy defeated Lyman Memorial/Windham/RHAM 96-76 in an ECC meet. Michaela Ryan added a win in the diving completion for the Wildcats (1-1, 1-0). Lane Perkins, Lucy Blanco and Madisyn Kondratowitz joined Ng on the 4x200 freestyle relay time while Ng, Perkins, Sophia Tung and Quincie Quint swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay team.

    • Ella Dyjak won the 200 free (2:04.81) and 100 fly (1:05.01) to pace Waterford to a 93-76 win over Fitch. Dyjak also contributed on the winning 200 medley (2:08.53, Elyse Gathy, Viviana Martinez and Jayne Darras) and 200 free (2:01.49, Darras, Sophia Kasem-Beg and Elizabeth Hawkins) relay teams. Gathy captured the 500 free (5:42.82) and 100 back (1:05.02) races for the Lancers (1-1, 1-0 ECC). Paulomi Sardar placed first in the 50 free (27.16) and 100 free (1:00.07) for the Falcons (0-1, 0-1).
