Westerly - The Mystic Aquarium will hold its second annual Seal Splash, in which participants plunge into the waters off Misquamicut Beach, on Jan. 24 at noon at Paddy's Restaurant on Atlantic Avenue.

Funds raised by the event will help support the aquarium's Animal Rescue Program, which cares for and rehabilitates stranded and rescued animals with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat. To date, the Aquarium has responded to more than 1,100 stranded seals, whales, dolphins, porpoises and sea turtles.

Registration is available online at mysticaquarium.org. Early registration is available through Jan. 7, 2015, for $20. After Jan. 8 registration is $25. All registrants receive a special gift and those who raise more than $120 (including registration fee) will receive a long-sleeved "Seal Splash" T-shirt. The top fundraiser will win a Mystic Aquarium animal encounter experience.
