New London — The New London Field of Greens farmers' market opens for the season from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the lot across from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital on Montauk Avenue.

The market will also run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Fridays at Williams Park on the corner of Broad and Williams streets. The market will continue on Wednesday and Fridays through Oct. 30.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, sauces, jams, cheeses, spreads, chicken and pork from local farms will be for sale. Vendors will also offer baked goods and artisan breads, and artists, authors and artisans will offer soaps, jewelry, art and other wares. Throughout the summer and fall the market will feature cooking demonstartions, musical performances, prepared foods and information booths manned by community organizations. Debit and credit cards along with EBT/SNAP, WIC and food stamps can be used for purchases.
