Mystic Seaport, Conn College, UConn receive humanities grants
Mystic Seaport, the University of Connecticut and Connecticut College have been awarded a total of more than $570,000 in grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, according to a news release.
Connecticut College received $225,000 for a project titled "Kierkegaard's Journals and Notebooks"; Mystic Seaport was awarded $168,134 for a project called "The American Maritime Commons"; and the University of Connecticut was awarded $177,917 for a project, "Gullah Voices: Traditions and Transformations," according to the announcement.
Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, congratulated the recipients from eastern Connecticut.
“These grants are significant indications of the value of eastern Connecticut’s cultural offerings, ranging from our top-flight universities to unique historic attractions," Courtney said in a statement. "These institutions provide valuable contributions to our regional tourism sector and enrich our communities."
