Six people safely brought to Norwich marina after boat runs aground

Norwich — The Norwich Fire Department Marine 1 crew brought six people up the Thames River to the Marina at American Wharf after their motor boat ran aground in the Thames River in Montville, fire officials said.
The boat ran aground at 7:46 p.m. Saturday in Montville. The Mohegan Fire Department and Norwich Fire Department marine unit were called to the scene. The Norwich rescue boat was the first to arrive.
There were no injuries reported.
Norwich Battalion Chief Stuart Carter said the passengers were brought to the Norwich marina, and the U.S. Coast Guard and a boat towing service, was called to remove the boat.
