Power restored to some customers in Stonington
Stonington — Power has been restored to homes and businesses in and around the Stonington Borough as of 2:20 p.m., but power remains out in large sections of Pawcatuck, according to First Selectman George Crouse.
Crouse said the powerful storm that swept through the region early Tuesday morning knocked some trees onto power lines along Greenhaven Road at approximately 7 a.m. In order to clear the trees, utility crews had to cut off power to the two sections of town. Crouse said crews are working diligently to restore power to Pawcatuck customers.
As of 2:33 p.m. Eversource reported that 3,807 or 47 percent of their 8,049 customers in Stonington remained without power.
