Winners announced in Mystic Lighted Boat Parade

Mystic _ The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the annual Holiday Lighted Boat Parade on Nov. 28, which the chamber said featured a record-breaking number of participants and spectators.

“With nearly 30 participating boats this year, the judges had some tough choices to make,” the chamber stated in its announcement of the winners.

    The winners were:

Most Charismatic Crew: Kariann, a 31-foot boat owned by Jerry Freidel that featured a tugged whale.

Innovative Vessel: Whistler, a 45-foot wooden sword fishing boat from the Noank Village Boatyard that had a "Star Wars" theme.

Best Dressed Vessel: Twice Bitten, a 17-foot Boston Whaler Montauk owned by Peter Coope Jr. which was decorated in a classic 1970s style.

Miss Mystic Vessel of Grandeur: Loon-A-Sea, a 46-foot Post Sportfish in which Brian Jendraszek and his team created 22 1/2-foot tall Eiffel Tower as a tribute to peace and those killed in the Paris terrorist attacks.

The chamber thanked Cross Sound Ferry and the Wronowski Family, Mystic Seaport, Seaport Marine, Mystic Fire Department, Mystic River Park and Stonington Police Department for their help with the event.
