Montville — Two police officers will be sworn in during a ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday at Town Hall.

Stacie Savage of Franklin and Kathleen Schmelzer of Deep River are scheduled to start their 22-week police training on Dec. 31.

Following their graduation in June, they will start 14 weeks of field training before they are assigned to patrol duties.

Savage is a 2015 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in criminal justice.

Schmelzer formerly attended Central Connecticut State University and is working toward a degree in education/history. She is a co-owner of the Backward Pipe, a Centerbrook-based company that digitally prints custom designs on apparel.
