Registration for Great Park Pursuit starts Monday

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced Thursday that registration for the 2016 No Child Left Inside Great Park Pursuit – Connecticut State Parks Family Adventure will open on March 28, 2016, at www.NoChildLeftInside.org and conclude on April 25.

Registration is not required, but families or teams (someone under 18 with someone 18 and over) who do register and attend all seven weeks of the program will be eligible to receive a prize of a 2016 state park pass, which provides free parking at state park locations where fees are charged.

Registrants will also receive a bracelet that allows them to get into the park for free for that day's program.

To be eligible for the final prize, families must register by April 25, attend all weeks of the game, check in at the registration table at each location and provide documentation that they attended the self-guided events, DEEP said in a news release.

The 2016 Great Park Pursuit will kick off at Keney Park in Hartford from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 30 and will end June 11 at a location which will be announced as the game progresses.

There will also be activities at a different state park on the five Saturdays in between.

Families will learn the location of these activities by following clues at www.NoChildLeftInside.org.

The Great Park Pursuit, now in its 11th season, is a series of activities designed to introduce families to the outdoors, build the next generation of environmental stewards and showcase Connecticut's state parks and forests this spring.
