New London – The Secretary of the State’s Office has ordered an audit of the ballots cast in the first voting district at New London High School during the presidential primary.

Bill Giesing, the Democratic registrar of voters, said the secretary of the state randomly chooses 10 percent of voting districts that used tabulators for an audit to ensure the electronic tabulators were accurate. It is not a recount.

A hand count of all of the 1,040 votes cast will take place at 10 a.m. Friday starting in the council chambers. The public is invited to observe.
