Man, 46, dies in Waterford of suspected heroin overdose
Waterford — A 46-year-old man died Friday night of an apparent heroin overdose, according to a news release on the Waterford Police Department Facebook page.
At about 7:50 p.m., the emergency communications center received a 911 call from a home on Bloomingdale Road in the Quaker Hill section of town, reporting that a man had overdosed on heroin, the news release said.
The Waterford fire and police departments responded and found the man unresponsive, the release said.
Emergency personnel administered Narcan, a medication used to stop the effects of an opioid overdose, and transported the man to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.
He was later pronounced dead, the news release said.
His name was being withheld out of respect for his family, the department said. The incident is under investigation.
“The Waterford Police Department continues to participate in a regional community enhancement task force which is dedicated to combating the spread of heroin in our community,” the Facebook post said.
